If you are running a home business or considering starting one having a mentor is essential. But don't think that any one will do, find one that has a background in mentoring. One of my pet peeves is that people decide they want to be an expert in fields that they really are not an expert in. When you look at their training you can see that they are short lived in the field that they are purporting to be an expert in. For example I have seen financial planners who were in other careers and then decided to change and hang out their shingle and become a financial expert. Did you know that it requires more training and time to become a massage therapist than it does to become a financial planner?
The same problem occurs in the home business mentoring arena. To be a mentor all anyone has to do is say they are a mentor, write a few articles and then start working with clients. This can cause more harm that good. You don't need to listen to someone who has less than you do because they don't understand how to teach you how to get ahead. We do things based on feelings and emotions therefore we learn how to do things based on past experiences.
