While seemingly always possessing an insatiable need to not only pose the difficult, challenging questions, but to endeavor to answer them - it was a single dramatically life-altering event that would first crystallize the foundation for many of the very much atypical themes, insight and perspective so richly interwoven throughout the pages of my very first book.

From that devastating untimely demise of my beloved mother… from the overwhelming heartache and sense of bewilderment, the catalyst of intense questioning about validity of purpose and the relevance of faith… from the entirely selfish need to simply have living begin to matter again – eventually a new, considerably more selfless destiny, would begin to emerge. In time, discontent would become renewed purpose and disillusionment reinvigorated passion – passion to get the most out of this life and to aspire to my true intended destiny… passion to encourage all who can, and will, dare to dream to discover and strive for their very own unique and incredible version of the same.

A story comes to mind. Years ago, in passing, I asked a young boy how he was. He answered that he was doing "good" because he didn't have to go to school that day, continuing that he didn't like school and wished he were done. I asked him whether he realized the importance of school, adding that if he got good grades he could be anything he wanted to be. I asked if he could be anything, what he would choose. He responded, "You mean like a bus driver?"

Don't get me wrong, a bus driver is a perfectly honorable and respectable profession. I think the boy was working with a very limited perspective about his universe of options.  His thought process wasn't along the lines of: not interested in becoming a CEO, judge, doctor, astronaut, or a governor… I think I want to be a bus driver. He simply wasn't aware he had so many other options. Sound familiar?

Perhaps your perspective is, after years of trying, that true happiness and fulfillment just isn't within you. Since I have a hard time believing that the Almighty indiscriminately gifted some of us with a magnificent, destiny-defining spark, and did not gift countless others, my suspicion is that we all have the potential within us. It's just a matter, for some, of unlocking the door so that the potential can be released.

I'd like to think that, so many years ago, having presented that young boy with a more opportunistic outlook and additional career options, that he went on to improve his life. I'd also like to think that the stories and perspectives in this book will help unlock your amazing new potential and very own unique and winning mindset.

Make no mistake about it, we are all interconnected and most everything has purpose. What I do today has impact on your tomorrow. And what you do tomorrow has impact on others and me the following day—for good or bad. My mother was called home yesterday. Today I wrote, and you're reading, this book. Why don’t people take action? Why don’t people win in Home Businesses?

 

The question about "Why people don't take action when it is presented to them is a question that has perplexed man for ages".

 

In continuing the discussion about why people succeed in working on the internet as well as why people succeed in life. When information is presented on any topic it is done so with the intention that people act on it. I have never heard of anyone giving out information with the intention of people not to use it. In addition when people take their precious time to deliver information or teach a subject that will enable anyone listening to do a job better than the people listening must act on it.

 

The question that perhaps people fear success is partially right. I believe that people don't take action because they have never been taught to take action. Most people are followers and not leaders. Most people say they want wealth, but lack the education to do so and are unwilling to go get it. When the information is presented to them some will always act on it and others will not. As a teacher it is gratifying when even a few take action.

 

In keeping with the discussion about teaching others how to make money on the internet, the fact that only a hand full of people will act on the information is where the home business industry capitalizes. The MLM and Network Marketing industry understands that people will only work for a short period of time then quit. This is their strategy!

 

When a person gets all hyped up and buys into a MLM business they go out and recruit friends and family, maybe they will take off and put a hundred or so people into their downline. Usually to get full commissions the home business owner has to purchase a high level of products themselves, which in most cases cost more than they make. This reality will not set in until months after they sign up and start selling. [Most MLM or network marketing companies will not send commissions out for ninety days.] So they recruit their downline and convince everyone how great the program is and are only focused for a short period of time. After reality sets in, and they realize they are spending more then they are making, they quit. [The strategy of the MLM business is that people only stay short term. The way the system is designed is for people to bail out on to the next best opportunity.]

 

The MLM or Network Marketing business knows that the people will realize that they are spending more money than they are making so the home business owner starts to scale down on their product purchases. As they scale down on the product purchases the commissions drop, only to end up where the home business owner stops buying the product all together. Now their commissions are no longer coming in and the company keeps them. The MLM Company has acquired sales with minimal acquisition cost, and after only a few months they are not paying out commissions. They know how many people will stay and how many will leave. They are building a company on the backs of people who will ultimately quit.

 

These MLM or Network Companies know that people will not stay focused so they have designed their programs to capitalize on the weakness of the people. This strategy has been alive and well in many industries. The insurance industry does this also. When the MLM or Network Companies can convince the public that they are running a home business, when in fact all they are is a sales person for the MLM Company, and get them to use their own money to grow a business for someone else, then leave giving up the commission that the company no longer has to pay out to anyone else, the public is being duped. You can't be duped unless you were uneducated in what you were doing. The problem with this picture is that the people were unwilling to get the education needed in performing the task of running a home business.

 

The statistics that "ten percent of the people control ninety percent of the world's wealth" means that the ten percent will take the time to learn and the ninety percent will not. The challenge is to find the people that are in the ten percent, and not spend time with the ninety percent. Or find people in the ninety percent that have a burning desire to get into the ten percent. This is what we teach our clients to do. We teach our clients how they can get into the ten percent and not to be duped by the hype, lies, scams, and dishonesty that pervades the MLM or Network Marketing industry.

In conducting an advanced seo training class for Veretekk last night, I gave people the heads up on a significant way to gain notoriety and presence on Google. Google groups, owned and operated by Google, is a powerful way to setup your own group, or post comments and articles to my group. This system works very well for search engine placement. Here is the interesting part of that webinar presentation. There were about 60 people in attendance. I was giving these people real-time insights into the art of search engine optimization and search engine marketing. My objectives in these training sessions is to assist people in the way to gain notice for their websites. How many people took advantage of this free service? Only 5 people out of the 60 people joined the group. Only 1 person actually posted an article. This is clear indication to me about the lack of motivation of people seeking to build an online business.

I see this all the time in Veretekk. I see this same thing in Jaguar Marketing. Every single time that I think that the commitment level could not get any lower, they surprise me once again. I believe that I am onto something significant here. People attend seo training classes to gain knowledge, but they are hesitant to actually put that knowledge into forceful action. Would that not be like gaining a college degree, but choosing to dig ditches for a living? I think that the total lack of non-action in the home business arena speaks loudly. People that are willing to make a commitment to become excellent writers, have success on Google. Those that choose to simply go about their business of posting to classified ad sites, posting to ffa sites, attending numerous training classes and recording the sessions but never put a plan into action, will never see any type of money gain on Google. Its becoming ever clear in my mind that the vast majority of people claiming they want success, are not willing to make a positive move in the direction of gaining that success.

What is the core meaning here? Why are people fearful of success? I think that it is directly due to the way that they think. I feel that their mindset is what is keeping them from going into action. They SAY they want some type of success in a home business, but in all actuality, their real self-talk is simply telling them that this is not real, and do not waste time in trying. After all, you have joined 30 different businesses over years, and absolutely none of them have gained you any type of money at all.

Tom Prendergast has said it better than anyone else. "We can lead you to the door of success, but you must choose to enter that door. No one can make you successful. No one can give you that burning desire. You must accomplish this yourself." I had an interesting email from a Veretekk subscriber a couple of days ago that clearly stated the whole problem. He was wondering what the most effective way to promote online. He said that he and a friend had devised an elaborate method of building many doorway pages and daisy chaining them all together. This, he felt, would lead to his success on Google. He asked my opinion of the plan. I sent him back a reply something like this. "spend your time more efficiently by writing press releases, ezine articles, blog posts and forum posts." He immediately replied, "I need more information please." OMG! How much clearer could it be than that?
